Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: IBDP Shines at 12th WEXNET 2025
The Inclusive Business Development Park (IBDP), a flagship initiative of the Khyber Pass Economic Corridorm (KPEC) Project, in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC), participated in the 12th WEXNET (Women Export Networking) event, organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) from January 10th to 12th.
As a cornerstone of the KPEC Project’s mission to foster inclusive economic growth, the IBDP is dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Currently, the Park houses 16 women-owned Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) from Peshawar and the Khyber District, providing a supportive ecosystem for their growth and success.
The WEXNET event, a national platform for women entrepreneurs, brought together businesses from across Pakistan, offering opportunities to connect with local and international markets. The participation of IBDP entrepreneurs underscored the KPEC Project’s commitment to integrating women-owned businesses into the economic mainstream.
The event proved highly successful for the IBDP participants, who showcased diverse products ranging from handcrafted goods to innovative consumer items. Among the success stories, Mrs. Saira Gillani, an SME owner under the IBDP initiative, secured a partnership with an international exporter for her skincare range—marking a transformative milestone for her business.
Mrs. Fouzia Parveen, Director General of the Women Entrepreneurship Division (WED) at TDAP, commended the KPEC Project and IBDP for their strategic efforts in enabling women entrepreneurs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to scale their businesses. “The Inclusive Business Development Park is playing a pivotal role in bridging the gap for women-led enterprises, fostering growth, and creating market opportunities,” she remarked.
The KPEC Project, through initiatives like the IBDP, continues to advance economic development in historically underserved regions. By empowering women entrepreneurs, it not only promotes gender inclusivity but also enhances the socio-economic fabric of the region.
